We have not seen the last of Juan Manuel Marquez yet as the Mexican warrior announced that he will fight again this year. But it will not be against his nemesis, it will be against undefeated American Timothy Bradley. The two ring warriors will collide for the world welterweight title on September 14 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Marquez, who holds a 55-6-1 record with 40 knockouts, is coming from arguably the biggest win of his illustrious boxing career. The 39-year-old Mexican finally redeemed and vindicated himself when he scored a devastating sixth-round knockout victory over his nemesis Manny Pacquiao during their fourth bout on December 8th in Las Vegas. Marquez was on the verge of losing that match, but he displayed tremendous heart and came up with a powerful punch that knock Pacquiao cold to finally get the monkey off his back.
Meanwhile, Timothy Bradley will look to prove that he can really go up against big-name fighters as he defend his World Boxing Association welterweight title and put his perfect 30-0 record on the line on September 14th. Bradley will be making his second defense of the title he won when he was adjudged as winner of his bout against Pacquiao last year in Las Vegas. In his first title defense, Bradley scored a close unanimous decision victory over Ruslan Provodnikov on March 16 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.
Both fighters are expected to go all out and prove their recent victories were no fluke. Although this is not as big as other bouts, money-wise, this is expected to be one of the most action-packed battles this year.
